Description

The YWCA of Calgary is dedicated to breaking cycles of family violence, homelessness, and poverty. When and where she needs us most, we provide emergency shelter, housing, counselling and support. Share in our mission by helping to foster healthy women, healthy families, and thriving communities.

No. Our primary focus is women. We do believe that in order for women to thrive, her family must thrive as well. As a result, we also provide programs and services to children and men. We do not provide housing for men, but we do provide counselling and language and employment training for them.

The YWCA of Calgary has served women and their families for over a century. Since our humble beginnings in 1910, when four forward-thinking women* formed the first YWCA to provide safe accommodations for women travelers, we have tailored our programs to meet the changing needs of women in Calgary.

The YWCA is one of the largest and longest serving social service organizations in Calgary. During its 103 year history, the YWCA has touched tens of thousands of lives and adapted its programs and services to meet the changing needs of vulnerable women in the community.
