Calgary's Honens International Piano Competition, founded in 1991, has grown to be one of the world's great music competitions. Every three years 21 pianists from all parts of the globe compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes, including a unique three-season Artistic and Career Development Program. Honens is an extraordinary experience for pianists and audiences alike. It is not a series of tests, but a compelling festival of music. The Fifth Honens Competition takes place October 19 to November 3 2006. In addition to the triennial competition, Honens enriches the lives of Calgarians and Canadians through innovative community outreach programs and concerts by today's finest young concert artists.
