Description
Central Health Services, Inc. (CHS) was established in Toronto in July 1985 as a wholly owned division of Central Park Lodges to provide home care assistance and companion services to seniors, the disabled and chronically ill. In October of the same year two companies in the Montreal area were purchased. 1986 saw the opening of three new branches in Ottawa, Winnipeg and St. Lambert, Quebec. The Calgary office was established in 1992. In October 1994, Central Park Lodges, including CHS, was purchased by Central Park Holdings Ltd. from Trizec Corporation. Central Park Lodges Ltd. is a Toronto-based investment company, whose principals have over twenty-five years experience in Long Term Care. On April 11, 2001, Retirement Residences Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) was formed and began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange. At this time, Retirement Residences REIT acquired ownership of the retirement home portfolio and related businesses of Central Park Lodges Ltd., including Central Health Services. CHS was amalgamated into the Retirement Residences Inc., as a wholly owned subsidiary of Retirement Residences REIT. Business continues to be conducted under the name of Central Health Services, and no changes in the management of the retirement home portfolio and related businesses, including CHS were made.
