The Association has initiated and undergone many changes over the course of its' lifetime. We have grown from one residence in 1975 to eleven residences for adults in 2002, three of which are owned by CAFCL. Within some of the residences, we have developed independent living suites to provide additional alternatives for our clients. We also offer various support services to children, adults living in their own homes, and adults living with their natural families or approved caregivers. Recognizing that people with developmentally disabilities have sexual rights and responsibilities, CAFCL began a sexuality and relationship education program in 1995. These classes help individuals make informed decisions about sexuality and relationships. Also in 1995, CAFCL initiated the TIPS (Teaching and Independent Parent Support) program.
