Description

The Canadian Quality Assurance (CQA) program and the Animal Care Assessment (ACA) program have been developed for Canadian swine producers by the Canadian Pork Council and administered by the Provincial Pork Boards. When it comes to on-farm food safety and animal welfare, producers must “say what you do, do what you say, and prove it”. From accessing international markets to satisfying local consumers, the CQA and ACA programs are essential to enforce codes of practice that ensure hog producers excel in modern animal agriculture.

As consulting swine veterinarians, it is our primary goal to provide a broad variety of services to owners, managers, and staff of hog farms, thus allowing them to raise pigs in a welfare friendly manner, and be productive, efficient, and profitable. Utilizing a herd health model that focuses on nutrition, medicine, epidemiology, pathology and economics, we strive to make science-based decisions that lead to continuous improvement of herd production.

Warman Veterinary Services is proud to have partnered with Swine Database Systems (SDS). This system allows us to better collaborate with our clients, while working with veterinarians across Canada to provide syndromic disease surveillance to the Canadian Swine Health Intelligence Network (CSHIN), and ultimately address emerging disease threats.

Warman Veterinary Services veterinarians are recognized CQA/ACA program validators, who help clients to develop standard operating procedures, practices and record keeping that enables validation requirements to be met. Veterinarians perform full and partial validations yearly as required by the programs, and provide ongoing assistance as requested by producers. Both the CQA and ACA programs are mandatory and validated concurrently.
