Latest USSU News 2010-2011 Saskatchewan Student Leaders Urge Federal Government to Deny Potash Bid The University of Saskatchewan Students' Union (USSU) and the University of Regina Students' Union (URSU) are calling on the federal government to say no to BHP Billiton's $38.6 billion hostile takeover bid of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (PCS). [ click here to view full release] Signing of Strategic Alliance Agreement On September 8, 2010 the signing of a "Strategic Alliance Agreement" between the University of Saskatchewan Students' Union and the Office of the Treaty Commissioner took place at Welcome Week. In this agreement, both organizations agree to promote the slogan "We Are All Treaty People" and treaty rights and responsibilities among U of S student Changes to Tuition Payment Options a Good Deal for Students While most Universities across Canada have completely eliminated the use of credit cards as a form of tuition payment, the University of Saskatchewan will continue to accept MasterCard payments and has agreed to contribute $600,000 annually of the savings to enhance the student experience. Future savings will go towards the new Student Health and Counseling Centre in the new Place Riel Expansion Project. "This direct investment of over half a million annually in the student experience shows the University has made this decision with the best interests of the student body in mind," said USSU President Chris Stoicheff. By making the long census form voluntary the Government of Canada has fundamentally altered the sampling method used by the census.
