SPi was formed in 2002 to provide Electronic Business Transaction (EBT) hub services to Ontario’s retail electricity market, prior to market deregulation in May 2002. SPi is the leading provider of this service in Ontario, with an 85% market share and processing nearly 100% of the province’s retail market data, which includes approximately one million meter points. SPi’s system is one the largest of its kind in the world by volume.

SPi offers a billing and settlement solution for energy retailers, providing this solution as a licensed product or as a managed service. This solution is the most widely deployed billing and settlement solution in Ontario’s electricity market.

SPi is also engaged in custom software development and consulting services for energy industry clients.
