In my job, I read a lot of interview tips and one recently caught my attention. The tip was what to avoid: Being too modest . Failing to talk yourself up during an interview is one of the most self defeating mistakes that you can make. This is not the time for humility, so sing your praises! Don't be afraid to talk up everything that you've accomplished, whether in school or in previous companies. This is your time to shine. It ’s food for thought for a quiet and shy person like myself that there ’s a right time and place to speak positively about your achievements. It may lead to something good. This information about job interviews is courtesy of the recent Career Day at the UPEI School of Business . Human Resource Management students set up booths on topics such as “Considering Your Work Alternatives ” and “Effective Business Networking ”. The students told me that they found most of the information for their projects from the Internet, The Employment Journey, and the Career Services Centre at UPEI .
