Description

By the year 2030, 1 in every 5 Americans will be over 65. This creates the potential for rich intergenerational connections across seven or more generations: your own generation, three generations before you – parents, grandparents, great-grandparents – and three generations after you – children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The change in the generational landscape brings with it both challenges and opportunities. The City of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the Legacy Project have partnered to create a model for Legacy Community Building .

Based on a decade of research, the Legacy Project has developed an "un-caregiving" model for both professional and family caregivers that addresses psychosocial needs in a profound new way. It makes the caregiver experience more effective, more empowering, and more life-affirming for both the caregiver and the person needing assistance. It's about caregiving that speaks to the heart .

The Legacy Project enhances the learning children and teens experience in school, and offers lifelong learning opportunities for adults and elders. Learning is the means through which we fulfill our greatest potential and leave a meaningful legacy for generations to come. Lifelong learning that explores the bigger picture will foster more real solutions, inventions, discoveries – and more hope. So, get involved and grow a big idea with us. You can start by using and sharing the Legacy Project's ideas.
