But perhaps our proudest accomplishment is a long legacy of community work and philanthropy through The Albert and Temmy Latner Foundation. Founded in 1972, the foundation has donated tens of millions of dollars to a wide array of charitable and community building initiatives in the health, education, social development and arts sectors. From incorporating art galleries into our apartment projects to funding important medical research, we’ve long embraced the notion that leading corporations shouldn’t just measure success by revenue and profit, but in their ability to give back to the very communities that fuel their success. That means providing both funding and expertise to make our neighbourhoods stronger, our people more successful, and our collective futures brighter.

As such, The Albert and Temmy Latner Family Foundation was founded in 1972 to provide formal philanthropic support to health, education, arts and social development causes in the Greater Toronto Area. To date, the Latner family has donated tens of millions of dollars to a wide range of charitable and community-building initiatives across the Greater Toronto Area and around the world.

Shiplake Development Company was founded in 1979 on a long legacy of real estate success. The company’s roots date to the late 1940s, when Shiplake founder Albert J. Latner joined thriving Greenwin Properties. Over the years, and under the tutelage of his father-in-law and Greenwin co-founder Arthur Weinstock, Albert was promoted through the company’s ranks, soon assuming key management roles. The ambitious young executive embraced exciting new opportunities at every turn as post-war Toronto experienced a development boom. As such, he helped spearhead the development of communities across the Greater Toronto Area including Don Mills—one of Canada’s first master-planned suburbs—as well as more than 15,000 residential apartment units, numerous condominium towers and more than six million square feet of commercial space and various subsidized social housing complexes across the city.

For more than three decades, Shiplake Development Company has spearheaded some of Toronto’s most exciting condominium projects, building a growth-driven development portfolio remarkable for everything from its quality to design diversity.
