PROFILE
At Nitrex Metal, we are doing what other nitriding system manufacturers would do if they only had our knowledge and technology. Whereas most companies in the nitriding market began their operations with the manufacturing of heat treatment equipment (i.e. furnaces), Nitrex Metal started off in 1984 by developing the process technology - known as Nitreg® and
Nitreg-ONC®. This proprietary technology was developed through the collective ingenuity of metallurgists and engineers in response to inconsistent and often inferior results obtained through conventional nitriding processes.

When the technology became commercially marketable, Nitrex commenced a search for potential licensees. In 1990, Nitrex joined forces with H&S Heat Treating and formed Nitrex Metal
Technologies, a commercial nitriding service center that operates without interruption to this day. Nitrex later launched two additional commercial nitriding service centers, also registered as Nitrex Metal Technologies, in Montreal (Quebec, Canada) and
Mason (Michigan, USA) to cope with increased demand from its
North American clients. All three centers incorporate the latest developments in heat treatment and nitriding technology and have developed a reputation for excellence in commercial nitriding services. Besides these joint ventures, Nitrex has also licensed its technology to renowned heat and surface treating companies in
France, Italy, England, Australia, New Zealand and Poland.

Today we have expanded our focus and transitioned our capabilities in support of the "in-house installation" market; consequently we utilize the total system approach, which means that we design and build our equipment (furnaces, control systems, process control technology) to match the requirements of a particular product or application. We offer application testing, process definition, process design, contaminants and treatment options, operator training, and after sales service.

1998 marks Nitrex's first appearance on the PROFIT 100 list. We debuted as Canada's 30th fatest growing company with sales increasing by 1,811% over a five-year period.

Another prestigious recognition of business leadership is the
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 1998, Nitrex
Canada was distinguished as a finalist in the Manufacturing
Industrial Products category.
