Meta Vision Systems (Meta) is in the business of providing industry-proven, 3D machine vision systems. Since its start in
1984, the Company has been guided by the principle of transforming innovative machine vision concepts into productive, high-performance 3D vision solutions. Equally important, Meta has been very succesful in reducing the complexity and cost of laser seam tracking systems.

International Scope:

The Canadian operation was acquired by the parent located in Oxford England. The Canadian operation covers the Americas for sales, marketing, applications and product development.

The company has a history of acquisition and we are always looking for new ventures. In 2003 Meta acquired ISS to strengthen our position in the tube and pipe sector. In 2004 we launched an office in Bejing China and in 2005 we acquired another competitor, SCOUT to build our presence in Germany.

We are very active in building our international network and have a large web of strategic channel partners and dealers. Through this web we are able to be " glocal " - a global presence and local in response and nature.

Products:

The core of Meta's expertise lies in a rugged, high resolution, laser-based industrial sensor, proprietary high speed image processing hardware and a specialized software environment.
This combination permits accurate 3D measurement under harsh production conditions.

Successful applications of Meta's machine vision products include seam tracking systems for the weld machine market and vision guidance for robotic welding.

While benefit drivers vary across the verticals, the common justification is derived from : improved product quality, reduced manpower, faster production speeds, faster set-up, and less scrap or rework.
