Jan was born and raised in the coastal community of Campbell River on Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The ocean has always been an important element in her life. Jan has been a self taught potter for the past 25 years. She created her first Mussel Shell some 20t years ago with the vision of creating a line of realistic westcoast shells over the years to come. Jan continued to work on her pottery designs as well as raising her two children. Jan's union with her husband Mike 10 years ago was the catalyst in the line of shells moving ahead. Watercolor painting is another passion for Jan as well as a variety of sports including snowboarding, slalom water skiing & running. Mike was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia moving to Campbell River for his final year of high school. He then attended a technical college graduating with a degree in Telecommunications. An entrepreneur at heart, Mike ventured into the commercial fishing world where he owned and operated a 45 foot fishboat, as well as a live fish transport trucking business for 15 years. Retired from fishing, Mike and Jan joined forces as Mussels & More Pottery. Their home based studio is situated in Campbell River, BC overlooking the waterfront and commercial fishing docks on Discovery Passage. They hope their pottery will give you pleasure by bring a little part of the ocean they love into your home.
