Montrose Mortgage Corporation Ltd. is one of Canada's largest and oldest privately owned mortgage banking and loan servicing organizations with a 50-year history of providing mortgage expertise through local representation for a wide variety of private and institutional clients.

Canadian institutional mortgage Lenders have historically lent directly through their branch network located across the country.
However, in 1947, when Investors Syndicate came to Canada from their Minneapolis-based head office, they chose to approach mortgage lending similar to that of the United States where their interests were served by a group of mortgage bankers or correspondents located in strategic locations throughout the
United States. This philosophy resulted in the appointment of a
Montrose predecessor company as Investors Syndicate's exclusive mortgage correspondent for the Province of Manitoba. At that time this relationship was one of only two or three which existed in
Canada and reflected Investors' confidence in the local knowledge and expertise of the mortgage and real estate personnel within the Montrose organization.

Following these origins Montrose was granted Approved Lender status by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in 1969, and since that time Montrose has been an active originator and
Lender of CMHC insured mortgages on behalf of institutional investor clients.

It is from this original mortgage correspondency relationship, assisted by the rapid growth in our branch network, that Montrose has been able to expand and develop the concept of a mortgage banking correspondent, representing institutional and private sources who are either not represented by their own mortgage branches and personnel or who wish to rely upon Montrose's local knowledge and underwriting standards. Currently, Montrose is administering a portfolio of over $1 Billion of commercial loans located in cities across Canada for institutional investors including life insurance companies, chartered banks, mutual funds, CMBS Lenders and pension funds. Financing is generated through offices located in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton,
Winnipeg, Toronto, and Halifax.
