As part of the Manitoba Hydro family, the 4th largest utility in Canada, the Manitoba HVDC Research Centre performs innovative research and development in HVDC and power electronic technologies, instrumentation, and simulation.Through the extraordinary efforts of our researchers, the Centre has become a world leader in the technology of electric power system simulation, applied power systems analysis, and related technologies. With our large base of users, and our partners, we have our finger on the pulse of electric industry around the globe in order to anticipate technological changes.Through the introduction of the PSCAD™ simulation software, now used in over 60 countries, the Centre has set a new HVDC transmission industry standard in power system simulation. In addition to the development and marketing of software and technology products, the Centre offers research and engineering services, laboratory services, PSCAD™ training, and technology transfer training.
