The Jones Consulting Group Ltd. was established in 1988 to provide professional consulting services in the field of land use planning. Our services soon expanded to include engineering and surveying. A client's core needs are satisfied under one roof located within one of the most dynamic growth areas in Canada: Barrie, Ontario.

The Provincial Policy Statement (PPS) is the statement of the government’s policies on land use planning. It applies province-wide and provides clear policy direction on land use planning to promote strong communities, a strong economy, and a clean and healthy environment. Municipalities use the PPS to develop their official plans and to guide and inform decisions on other planning matters. The PPS is issued under Section 3 of the Planning Act and all decisions affecting land use planning matters ‘shall be consistent with’ the Provincial Policy Statement. The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing have completed the five-year review of the PPS. During this review it was evident that the PPS should be refocused to provide more clarity and flexibility for northern and rural Ontario. The Provincial Policy Statement 2014 includes enhanced policy direction to better reflect the needs and unique circumstances of northern and rural Ontario. The PPS, 2014 was released on February 24, 2014 and comes into effect on April 30, 2014 replacing the PPS, 2005.
