We met in 2001, the year I was free. My brother Edmond started the Rotaract Club of Calgary Metro, a club for young people dedicated towards community service. That kind of thing was right up my alley, and apparently it was the same for Eric too, whom Edmond had known casually for a number of years. Eric says that he didn't make much of an impression on me the first time or two I met him, but I don't remember that. I do know that at our Inaugural celebration, the Rotaract Charter Night, I took very much notice of him. He was the most handsome and charming man there by far. He wore a tux, and was he ever nice on the eyes! I can't remember what we talked about, but every time we drifted away from each other to mingle with the crowd, our eyes kept seeking each other as if we were just discovering the light of day. You know, we're not subtle people, and even my mom picked up on our energy that night, and my siblings started the teasing even then. We found excuses to work closer together in our next project, the Dragon boat Festival, and eventually got around to dating. At our first date, we were both late to the movie - and arrived at the parking lot at exactly the same time! How's that for evidence that we were meant to be? Another day, we went rollerblading and I took a big spill and my hip and knee were bleeding as we had a heart to heart about our goals and our lives. Somehow, that clinched it for us even though he's had this idea that I'm a huge klutz ever since that day! ...
