Longtime band member Bob Fox passed away friday night (Jun 5, 2009) at the age of 81. He had come out of the heart surgery fine, but unfortunately passed away due to complications that developed afterwards. Bob Fox had played in the Galt Kiltie Band for over 50 years!

Brian graduated from teachers college and then went on to Waterloo Lutheran University to obtain his Bachelor of Arts degree in music. He began his teaching career at the School for the Blind in Brantford. He taught music at Waterford District High School and later became the head of the music department at North Park Collegiate, a position he held until his retirement from teaching in 1996. Over the course of his career, Brian has been affiliated with many musical groups including the Brantford Memorial Concert Band, which he conducted for over 20 years.

We are is pleased to announced that Brian Beard has been appointed as the new conductor for the Galt Kiltie Band. Brian is well known as the organist and choirmaster for St. John's Anglican Church in Brantford, Ontario. He also was the conductor for the Brantford Memorial Concert Band for over 20 years, before joining the Kilties. Brian looks forward to conducting the Kilties.

The GALT KILTIE BAND is still around today, not only because of it's fine musicians, but also because of their great heritage. With heritage comes the Burchill family with over 125 years of combined continuous involvement with the band.

The year 2002 marks the centennial of the Galt Kiltie Band which was founded in 1902. To celebrate our 100th birthday, we have commissioned the "Galt Kilties Centennial March" which will be performed this year.
