The Elizabeth Fry Society of Toronto is a non-profit organization dedicated to working with women who are, have been, or are at risk of being in conflict with the law. As a women-centred agency, our mission is to create a safe place for women to develop skills and build their capacity to make informed choices. We also foster the community's interest in and responsibility to the women we serve. We offer diverse programming, engage in outreach, create partnerships, and build community awareness to achieve our mission. The Elizabeth Fry Society of Toronto addresses the systemic causes of crime by: - fostering successful rehabilitation and community integration through transitional housing, crisis intervention and release planning - facilitating choices and opportunities for women - promoting harm reduction strategies that reduce the risk to society of potential re-offense by our clients, contributing to community cohesion and public awareness of the root causes of crime - The Only Half-Way House for Women released to the Toronto area from provincial and federal correctional institutions - Programs for Incarcerated Women in the Greater Toronto Area including volunteer-driven social-recreational programs and staff visits to assist with discharge planning for incarcerated women - Diversion Program at College Park Courts for those charged with a minor offense. Diversion can be completed through a charitable donation or community service hours with a service fee...
