Description
Founded in 1975, CMRRA is Canada’s largest music licensing agency. On behalf of the majority of music publishers and copyright owners doing business in Canada, CMRRA licenses the reproduction of songs in their repertoires on CD and via Internet distribution.
In addition, Ms. Rioux announced that John Olding CPA, CA, has joined CMRRA in the position of Controller. Mr. Olding will succeed Fred Merritt, who will be retiring from CMRRA on January 31, 2014 after many years of exemplary service to the organization. Mr. Olding comes to CMRRA with more than 25 years of business experience in both the public and private sectors, and with expertise in business development, strategic planning, project management, client services, information technology and human resources. Mr. Olding will be responsible for CMRRA’s financial management and administration and will join Ms. Rioux, Ms. Ellis and Ms. Syrtash to form CMRRA’s top management team.
CMRRA is compensated on the basis of commission charged against the royalty revenues we collect and distribute. Many of CMRRA’s services are non-exclusive, which means that our clients can carry out some of these licensing activities on their own if they so choose. We strive to offer value to our clients by providing high quality services at a price that is lower than the cost of performing this work independently, and to ensure a long-term positive relationship.
Founded in 1975, the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency Ltd is a music licensing collective representing music rightsholders who range in size from large multinational music publishers to individual songwriters. Together, they own or administer the vast majority of songs recorded, sold and broadcast in Canada. On their behalf, CMRRA issues licences to individuals or organizations for the reproduction of songs on various media, a list of which appears below.
