Xtra Magazine, published by Pink Triangle Press, is Canada’s leading LGBTQ2S+ media organization founded in 1971. It began as a small Toronto-based collective publishing The Body Politic, an influential journal of LGBTQ2S+ news and ideas. In 1984, Xtra was launched to continue this legacy in a more commercial format, expanding to Vancouver and Ottawa in the 1990s before moving entirely online in 2015. Xtra focuses on community-minded journalism, ensuring LGBTQ2S+ voices are not relegated to afterthoughts, as symbolized by its asterisk logo. The magazine informs, engages, and inspires its audience through diverse, inclusive content.
