Description

In its long and determined history, the Castlegar Library has moved and expanded seven times, and all along the way the little library that started in the basement of the United Church with 200 books has had the ardent following of a loyal and voracious reading public. Now, standing today, after another much needed expansion in 2000, the library usage continues to expand. With its reputation of a welcoming atmosphere, the friendly, personal attention of the staff and its impressive collection of over 57,000 books, (one of the highest circulations in B.C. per capita), the library is a bustling beehive of activity. Usage is not the only thing that's escalating here; with a growing membership of 7,600+, this is certainly not your typical "quiet" library setting.
