Arrow & Slocan Lakes Community Services (ASLCS) was incorporated as a provincial non-profit society in 1974 and as a federally Registered Charitable Organization in 1983. The Society was originally formed to deliver homemaker services to the Nakusp area. Since then the society has grown and is now a multi-program agency delivering social programs and services to an area encompassing Edgewood to Nakusp to Silverton. The Arrow and Slocan Lakes lie in the northwest Kootenays, amid the Monashee and Selkirk ranges and within the Columbia and Slocan River valleys. About 6,000 people live and work in the area. ASLCS impacts on a wide range of the local population, from children to seniors.
