Concrete expansion joint sealing, in which the concrete joint is cleaned and injected with a flexible sealant that allows the slabs to move, is vital to concrete maintenance. Expansion joint repair must be done properly. If expansion joint sealing is not done correctly water, jet fuel, and glycol can seep through the cuts and damage the sub-base. The sub-base can become muddy and unable to properly support the concrete slab, resulting in more cracks and even breaks.
