Description
The BCAMI (British Columbia Arbitration and Mediation Institute) provides ADR Professional Development training and accreditation and is a Service Provider for its dispute resolution practitioners many of whom have been granted C.Arb. and C.Med status by the ADR Institute of Canada Inc (ADRIC). Arbitration or mediation experience is not required to apply for membership. All persons enter as Associate members. Separate application forms are required for each membership classification. At any time, provided the criteria is met (see Accreditation ) and the appropriate fee is paid (see administrative fee schedule ): All classes of BCAMI members are automatically members of the ADR Institute of Canada Incorporated provided membership dues are maintained in good standing. (a) ASSOCIATE MEMBER - a person or organization/corporation, represented by a nominee that has an interest in ADR/Participatory Justice but does not qualify for any other class of membership and has been approved as an Associate Member. An Associate Member has all the privileges of membership except that an Associate Member cannot vote, nominate candidates, hold elective office or be given roster status. (b) FULL MEMBER - a person who has successfully completed the Society's requirements for education, training and practical experience and has been approved to Full Membership. (c) FELLOW - a Full Member who has been nominated by his/her peers in recognition of his/her professional attainment and significant accomplishment in ADR/Participatory Justice and been approved to the status of Fellow with the right to identify himself/herself as a Fellow of the British Columbia Arbitration and Mediation Institute. (d) LIFE MEMBER - a Full Member who has provided, in the opinion of the Board, distinguished service to the Society and the field of ADR/Participatory Justice and been approved as a Life Member and from that point forward to have all the rights of a Full Member without having to pay membership dues. (e) NON-PRACTICING MEMBER - a person who was Full Member but does not engage in the practice of ADR/Participatory Justice for compensation and has provided to the Institute an undertaking to that effect and has been approved to Non-Practicing Membership. A Non-Practicing Member has all the rights of a Full Member except that he/she may not represent himself/herself as accepting ADR/Participatory Justice engagements for a fee and cannot be given roster status. (f) STUDENT MEMBER - a person who is enrolled in a BCAMI approved course of study in ADR/Participatory Justice and has been approved as a Student Membership.A Student Member has all the privileges of membership except that a Student Member cannot vote, nominate candidates, hold elective office or be given roster status.
