At Avenue Investment Management, we believe that the investment analysis of companies has not changed in over 100 years. What has changed is the confusion for most people when it relates to investing. The vast array of products that is available and the corresponding expenses that accompany these products, cause further confusion and may result in reduction of wealth. We manage solely equity and bond portfolios with one main goal - wealth creation. How do we do this? At Avenue Investment Management we determine a company's intrinsic value . We define intrinsic value as the fundamental value which is justified by assets, earnings, dividends and future prospects of the company . As well, the management's role is a factor in determining intrinsic value. We invest primarily in companies that trade at significant discounts to our assessment of their intrinsic value. We believe the market is not always efficient or rational. Short-term news disguises the long-term prospects of the business. Many companies are "out of favour" and misunderstood. As a result , stocks trade below their long-term intrinsic value. Focused: We will have on average between 15-30 investments. Asset Allocation: Historically, it has proven that outperformance results from asset allocation, NOT geographic, stock or style diversification. Therefore, we focus on strategic asset allocation.
