Description
ACCIONA has experience in Photovoltaic Solar (PV) plants as well as Concentrating Solar Power (CSP), a technology that uses thousands of mirrors to concentrate the sun’s rays onto a solar receiver, provides clean, reliable and cost-efficient renewable energy. ACCIONA is the pioneering explorer of CSP technology. ACCIONA Energy develops, owns and operates CSP plants, as well. ACCIONA designed, developed, built and now operates ACCIONA’s Nevada Solar One . It is a 64 MW plant with the capacity to create electricity equivalent to the needs of approximately 14,000 homes annually. On a global basis, ACCIONA is involved in CSP and solar PV technologies on a utility-scale. We also provide solar hot water technologies as energy-efficient solutions for buildings and other large facilities.
ACCIONA Energy has focused on wind and solar energy in North America and has global experience in biomass, hydropower and biofuels as well.
ACCIONA Agua focuses on water treatment and reverse-osmosis desalination, a technology it has pioneered for nearly 30 years that removes salt from water to make it potable. Our projects supply sustainable clean water to more than 69 million people on five continents. With growing populations and lower rainfall, creating new sustainable sources of clean water is critical. ACCIONA designs, builds, operates and maintains these water treatment projects serving both public and private clients. We ensure sustainability is a priority every step of the way. In North America , ACCIONA operates the largest desalination plant in the U.S., which supplies 10 percent of the sustainable clean water for Tampa Bay, Florida. We have also helped to preserve healthy water levels in the protected Carmel River and Seaside Acquifer by instead turning ocean water into clean drinking water to supply Monterey, California. The mission of ACCIONA Agua is to be a leading provider of global solutions contributing to sustainable development in the water sector.
Founded in 2012 in Vancouver, Canada, these events have taken place, or are scheduled, in New York City, Vancouver, London, Seattle, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Toronto, Ottawa and the Waterloo Region in Canada.
ACCIONA, a global infrastructure, water and renewable energy group, and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP (together with its affiliates, "KKR"), a leading global investment firm, today announced a partnership to consolidate and develop one of the largest operating international renewable energy portfolios in the world. Under the agreement, KKR will invest in ACCIONA Energía International (AEI), the international renewable energy generation business of ACCIONA Energía, the Spanish multinational's energy division. KKR is making the investment from its global infrastructure fund. KKR is acquiring a one-third stake in AEI at a price of €417m and will help to fund future growth of the renewables portfolio. ACCIONA Energía will retain the remaining two-thirds of AEI. AEI will hold ACCIONA Energía's operating renewable assets outside Spain, comprising 2.3 GW in 14 countries, including US, Mexico, Australia, Italy, Portugal and South Africa, that will generate an estimated cash flow of €120m distributable to the partners. Most of the portfolio is comprised of wind farms, with a small number of solar (photovoltaic and thermal) assets.
