Websar Laboratories Inc. was incorporated in 1993 to meet an increasing need for a private sector research facility in
Manitoba.

The company maintains a two thousand square foot research laboratory conveniently located on the outskirts of Winnipeg in central Canada. The facility makes use of up to date analytical instrumentation, is staffed by recognized leaders in the field of agricultural/environmental analytical chemistry, and is supported by a worldwide network of specialized knowledge.

Our services range from the development of new analytical methods
(e.g., solid phase microextraction) and the use of new simpler,
less expensive analytical technology, to consulting services inthe areas of the function and operation of analyticallaboratories. Help can be provided in the installation andmaintenance of analytical instrumentation or in the provisionof specialized non-routine analyses in support of productdevelopment (e.g., pesticide formulations).

Websar Laboratories Inc. can also assist by determination of physical constants required for environmental fate modelling or by providing training of analytical personnel. Websar
Laboratories Inc. also has experience in assessing compliance with environmental regulations.

Co-founder and President, Dr. Barrie Webster was formerly a
Professor in the Department of Soil Science at the University of
Manitoba where he was the head of the Pesticide Research
Laboratory. He has over 290 publications and presentations at conferences, symposia and workshops, and is a leader in the field of environmental chemistry, environmental analytical chemistry, pesticide residue analysis, and analysis of organic environmental contaminants. Dr. Webster's expertise in environmental analytical chemistry has been recognized through his membership and active involvement in many professional societies and associations, his service as a reviewer of scientific publications, and his membership on the editorial boards of the
SETAC journal - Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry; the
International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, and the Water Pollution Research Journal of Canada. He has over 15 years of service on the Manitoba Clean Environment Commission.

Co-founder and Vice President, Leonard Sarna, with 27 years of experience in the Department of Soil Science at the University of
Manitoba came into the business full time in 1998. He has worked in the areas of analytical and environmental chemistry, chromatography, and analytical methods development. Mr. Sarna has written, or co-authored over 100 publications in scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. Extensive experience in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of trace organic analytical instrumentation sets him apart as a well respected leader in this field.
