WPIRG, the Waterloo Public Interest Research Group, operated from 1973 to 2018 as a student-led organization at the University of Waterloo. It provided resources, funding, and space for student initiatives on social and environmental justice, including recycling programs, divestment campaigns, and workshops on Indigenous solidarity, anti-racism, and gender diversity. After closing in 2018 due to funding issues, WPIRG transferred its funds to the Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre, continuing its legacy of supporting Indigenous students and progressive causes on campus.
