Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club

Description

This cozy warming hut, located on the Delphine loop of Panorama's nordic trails, was built in the Fall of 2000 and named in memory of Dennis Hale, an avid local skier. Dennis' passion for cross counrty skiing, especially on the trails at Panorama led to the current hut being built and named in his honour. Construction of the hut was the result of many hours of volunteer work from members of the Ski Club during the Fall of 2000 and Spring of 2001, with funding for the project coming largely from the Hale family of Invermere. Currently the Hale hut is maintained by the Ski Club in conjunction with Panorama Mountain village and Greywolf Golf Course, who supply the propane, all winter long,for the heating of the hut. Caretaking of the hut is an ongoing process for the Club, and its volunteers, who supply firewood for the outside fire pit and ready the Hut for use each Fall by making sure the facility is clean and ready for the winter season. The Hut is also a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers in the summer season as well. Witnessed by the visitor book and its comments the Hale hut has been enjoyed by thousands of people over the years.It is the hope of the Club that this facility will continue to enhance the outdoor experience of many more people in the future.
