Association of Community Theatres - Central Ontario (ACT-CO) The Association of Community Theatres - Central Ontario (ACT-CO) is a regional not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting community theatre in Central Ontario. Scarborough Walk of Fame Scarborough has a lot to offer, but too little of it is widely known. The group set out to work in partnership, to identify and to promote Scarborough's many strengths. Theatre Ontario Theatre Ontario provides theatre practitioners throughout Ontario with training and information to enhance and support their art form. Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society The Society provides opportunities for real experience, with some of its members having gone on to perform on other stage venues. Music Conservatory students have gained useful practical work. The Society has hired collegiate media students for its technical work such as lighting. For many years the Society has recruited trainees from Toronto makeup schools. Behind-the-scenes workers are generally volunteers from cast friends and family members. Performs at the Burnhamthorpe Collegiate Institute Theatre Amicus Productions In 1978, Amicus (Latin for friends) was founded by a group of people looking to create good theatre in a friendly and democratic spirit. Amicus is a not-for-profit, award-winning organization whose volunteers donate thousands of hours per production without any payment, only enjoyment. For over 25 years, Amicus has presented dramatic, comic, classic and Canadian works. Performs at the Fairview Library Theatre. East Side Players Formed in 1967, when East York Players and Leaside Players joined forces, we ’ve been engaging audiences for over 40 years. Our twofold mission is to provide a community service: by presenting engaging, affordable theatre in a comfortable space and by offering individuals a chance to develop their interests by taking part in productions.
