Description

John Vis has been the proud owner and operator of Tasa Construction Limited for over 25 years. After completing high school with an academic focus, he began an education in electronics in 1974. Although John decided not to pursue that career, the knowledge he gained has proved useful as he followed instead in his father's footsteps and made construction and renovation his life's work. As a licensed home builder, John has personally built over 30 new homes and completed hundreds of renovations. He has contracted to both the Federal and Provincial Governments. In the 1980s, John was already contributing to research into energy efficient housing, and was a qualified and experienced R-2000 builder - today we call this "Green" building. Over the years, John has continually expanded his education. Through the 1980s he completed courses in Construction Estimating, Building Science and Quality Building. He also excelled in the Canadian Home Builder's Association (CHBA) Registered Renovation Professional program, receiving marks in excess of 90% and completing the certificate. John has taught night school courses in New Westminster and Coquitlam in home construction, and continues to impart his knowledge and experience to his indentured carpentry apprentices. Today, John is happily married, with 6 children, 5 grandchildren and is an active foster parent. He continues the fine European building tradition Tasa Construction has maintained for decades.
