Description

As sulphur showed signs of escalating in demand and value, it became apparent that improved methods of transporting and handling the commodity were required. These new methods had to be cost efficient, environmentally sound and offer reliability and dependability to the sulphur industry and its customers. In September of 1974, Petrofina, Shell Canada Resources and Hudson Bay Oil & Gas became key members of an eight-member industry task force.

Athough Sultran is a small organization in terms of staff, our people operate as a single cohesive team and are cross-trained to provide 24/7 service. A Sultran team member is always available - day or night - to manage any issues that may arise for our customers, stakeholders and communities. Sultran has in-house Information Technology expertise that has worked to develop and maintain our proprietary supply chain e-commerce toolset. Our collaborative system is designed to assist our customers and our service providers with supply chain and inventory management data in real-time.

Sultran operations involve a number of inter-related processes: rail contracting and operations expertise, fleet management, process and information technology systems, and inventory and vessel management to name a few. Our team of professionals ensures these processes work in collaboration to effectively and efficiently manage the business of logistics and deliver service levels that meet or exceed the expectations of our customers.

Through firmly established relationships with independent third-party service providers, we monitor product quality as required at rail loadout, rail unload, stockpile and vessel loading. We provide quality reports, arrange for vessel corrosion reports, maintain quality data and monitor sampling and testing procedures as required.

Our team understands the inner workings of the railway and marine industries and not only have the contacts to get the job done, but are equipped with the tools necessary to plan and monitor our customers' commodities.
