WE ARE THE ONLY SMALL FRUIT PLANT NURSERY IN ONTARIO TO OFFER PLANTS GROWN UNDER THE GUIDLINES OF THE ONTARIO PLANT PROPAGATION PROGRAM. The 2010 growing season at Strawberry Tyme Farms has been significantly different from the past 2 seasons. We had as early a start as we can remember with May temperatures in April and April temperatures in May. June was a warm month with adequate rainfall and then July hit. Excessive heat for days on end. Luckily we received rain at the right times in amounts that were very beneficial. August was very dry with many very hot days. The plants have performed extremely well through all the weather adversity. We feel we have oneof the most consistent looking plant crops we have seen in quite a number of years, both in strawberry and raseberry. We do recommend that you get your orders in early to ensure the variety selection you desire. Pretty well every year we start to sell out of certain varieties by early February so don'tdelay in ordering. DAY NEAUTRAL VARIETIES All the Seascape and Albion plant stock will be sourced from California. We are doing this because of the susceptibility of these varieties to winter damage and the fact that we cannot ensure fall digging when grown in Ontario. Get orders for these varieties in early so we can make sure we have ordered enough plants from the California nurseries. NEW SELECTIONS for 2011 limited trial planting V55 - this is an mid season variety from the Ontario Breeding program and shows promise of early, high yielding productive of bright coloured fruit. COMMERCIAL TRIAL SELECTIONS for 2011 R14 - a late season variety from the Ontario breeding program similar in timing to Serenity. Fruit is coned shaped, large, bright colour with good skin strength and berry firmness. Plants are hardy and seem to be tolerant of the leaf diseases. Yields of this variety in trials have been slightly less than Serenity. COMMERCIAL TRIAL SELECTIONS FOR 2011: V151 - this is an early season variety from the Ontario breeding program and shows promise of early, and high yielding production of bright colored fruit. Wendy - this is a early season variety from the Nova Scotia breeding program and has shown large fruit and good firmness. Similar timing to Evangeline with higher yields. Plants are susceptible to Red Steele and moderately resistant to powdery mildew. At Strawberry Tyme Farms we value your business and will strive to improve our roduct and service.
