Description
At Stan Hunter Boatbuilder we specialize in the service, restoration, and repair of small craft wood boats and runabouts up to 35'. We follow closely the philosophy and focus of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (Stan served as a director for 6 years) to preserve and promote our Canadian heritage of vintage watercraft. We also build to order new small craft - double-paddle canoes, double-ended rowboats, traditional rowing skiffs, and a wonderful 16' outboard boat as pictured below. It is based on a W.J. Johnston outboard from 1953. Stan builds one a year by pre-order. We now rent classic boats by the day or week. We are newly named Muskoka Launch Livery and have Duke Playmate Launches available here on Lake Muskoka or at your dock within our Ontario radius. We have recently updated our boat listings and have new happenings in the boat shop . Please take a look. Having established the business in 1990, we have chosen to keep it small, with a big commitment to personalized service and quality throughout. Stan is supported by two full-time helpers. We rebuild two or three boats a year, and refinish, service and touch up another dozen. We also maintain 30 or 40 boats out on Lake Muskoka on an annual spring/fall basis for a growing roster of regular clients. Many of the craft we service were built in the region and include Duke Playmates, SeaBirds, Greavettes, Ditchburns, etc. While our focus is Ontario ’s renowned Muskoka vacation area, our clientele often comes from several American states who seek the unique touch of Stan Hunter Boatbuilder.
