St Marys Cement is a leading manufacturer of cement and related construction products in the United States and Canada. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, St Marys Cement supplies cementitious materials to the Great Lakes Region and is also a significant producer of concrete and aggregates to the Ontario market. St Marys Cement is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Votorantim Cimentos, an international cement manufacturer based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
St Marys Cement was founded in 1912 in the town of St. Marys, Ontario by John Lind and Alfred Rogers. Together they led a small group of investors in building a 2 kiln, 180 tonne per day cement plant at a cost of $250,000 . St. Marys is known as the Stonetown and the first settlers arrived there in the early 1840s, attracted by the area's natural resources. At the town site, the Thames River cascaded over a series of limestone ledges, providing the power to run the first pioneer mills.

St. Marys Cement wishes to obtain the necessary permits to proceed with an Alternative Fuel Demonstration Project later this year. The alternative fuel demonstration would substitute alternative fuel for a portion of the fossil fuel used at the Bowmanville cement plant over approximately 24 days, in order to gather site-specific air emission data from the plant to determine the environmental feasibility of using certain alternative fuels.
