Lawrence was born and raised in the Vancouver area and traveled and worked in Europe prior to graduating from UBC in the early nineties. He has sailed since he was very young, owning a Davidson dinghy when he was only nine years old. For three decades, Lawrence has captained a great variety of yachts, sail and power, on the Pacific North West Coast, which he believes is one of the most beautiful boating regions in the world. His pleasant nature, love of the water and people are a winning combination in the boating business.

"We had been considering the possibility of a newer sailboat for sometime when Pacific Yachting featured the new Hunter 33 in its April 2012 edition. After an initial email, Lawrence Fonczek met us on board the 33 at the Victoria Boat Show. His enthusiasm, professionalism and knowledge of the Hunter brand and this boat in particular convinced us we definitely needed a second look. This lead us to Vancouver where after an awesome “sea trial” we purchased the 33! Lawrence and his team at Specialty Yacht Sales, although very busy that day, patiently answered our many questions and concerns.

John has been a sailor for most of his adult life. Owning and chartering, he has sailed a range of boats from dinghies to 50 footers. John has sailed and cruised the Solent and English Channel, the Mediterranean, Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean, Caribbean and the Pacific North West, where he initially owned a Hunter 30. Since that time, John has owned and sailed a Hunter 356, six Hunter 38's and two Hunter 39's. Before joining Specialty Yachts as a Yacht Broker in 2002, John had a long and distinguished career in civil aviation.
