After using my iPad almost exclusively for two months, I have started pushing the possibilities of productivity on the device. After downloading the keynote app and buying a VGA adapter, I've been slowly moving beyond email, notes and browsing the web. I'm finding that I use my laptop less and less now. I really focus on Visio, Excel, Photoshop and company email when I'm on the laptop but pretty much anything else can be done on my iPad. I use it to review GUI mocks, I use it for sharing articles and personal email and now I am about to abandon PowerPoint for Keynote "“ Hooray! I can only predict that the iPad will become a more serious productivity tool and that we'll see more and more work apps in the near future. Swiping, pinching, twigging, tapping and every variation in between will become increasingly normal and less cumbersome than using a mouse. Voice activated actions will also get more sophisticated Г la Blade Runner "“ you know the scene where Harrison Ford's character, Deckard is talking to his screen, examining a photo while drinking a glass of whiskey. The new Morgan Stanley research seems to indicate that the iPad is becoming a real threat to notebook sales. This is just the tip of the iceberg however, as other tablet devices are about to hit the market to try and go toe to toe with iPad.
