Since his foundation in 1981, Solmax International, offers its clients a complete range of high-quality products and services pertaining to the realization of geosynthetic containment systems (domestic, hazardous or industrial waste burial sites, retention ponds and heap leaching pad), from manufacturing in the plant to installation on the project's site.


The Solmax International headquarter is located in Varennes, Quebec, Canada. Beside it is a state-of-the-art plant housing a three layers film blown extruder producing all common types of polyethylene (PE) geomembrane in 6,7 m wide rolls with thicknesses ranging between 0,5 and 2,5 mm. Solmax International processes various types of resins including high density polyethylene (HDPE) and other polyethylene configurations such as Very Flexible Polyethylene (VFPE). All of these resins can be used to manufacture geomembrane with smooth surfaces or with texture on one or both sides in order to improve friction coefficient.

In 2009, Solmax International opened a second PE production unit in Malaysia. Those installations gave the enterprise the opportunity to reinforce its Pacific-Asia partnerships while marking a third major step in Solmax International's development since it as started to manufacture its own geomembranes in 1997.

Solmax International has also developed its own dielectric heat sealing system in order to pre-assemble in the plant flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC) geomembrane sheets used in lagoons, ponds, tanks or reservoirs. This operation, carried out under controlled conditions, makes possible the delivery to the construction site of large PVC geomembrane panels. As a result, the number of seams to be effected on site is considerably reduced, thereby accelerating and enhancing the overall sealing process during the construction project.
