Description
Sign and exterior makeover results in 80% increase in restaurant business. Established in 1983, Vijay Thukral was the only Indian restaurant in the area, and built up a loyal clientele of satisfied customers. Having no competition meant customers wanting Indian food would seek him out. Adding a wholesale line to the restaurant meant the kitchen was busy; with wholesale sales exceeding the restaurant sales. Due to the limited competition, hard work and entrepreneurial skills of the owners, the wholesale business was successful, but the image of the restaurant was neglected and sales lagged. The signs on the restaurant were in such a deteriorated state that replacement was necessary and Vijay contacted SignArt for recommendations. SignArt recommended the following: The results were beyond the owner ’s expectations. What began as a necessary project to update deteriorating signs, resulted in a transformed image for the restaurant. The new look not only brought praises from his regular clientele, but also something unexpected: new customers. In fact, many new customers. Increased business grew by over 80% as a result of the new image and new signs. When Mr Thukral was asked if any of this surprised him, he stated he had not anticipated any resulting increase in business. This project was looked at as just a cost of doing business. There are now plans to add additional signs for the restaurant. Armed with the knowledge that effective signs increase business, there is now no hesitation to invest in this previously untapped advertising medium. In 98% of all retailing, the business sign is the basic link to customers – whether used to prompt an impulse stop and shop or to help consumers develop a memory for the displayed good, product, service, or business name for future use. It is self- evident that poor communication with customers results in poor business performance. For almost all businesses, the most cost-effective and efficient form of advertising to potential customers is via on-premise, or place-based signage.
