Rowswell & Associates Engineers Ltd. was founded in 1986 by Mr. John Rowswell. Since that time, we have been providing civil, structural, welding engineering, and project management services throughout Northern Ontario and Michigan. With our main office in Sault Ste. Marie and a satellite office in Toronto, we are able to meet our clients’ daily needs. At present (1999), the staff consists of 1 registered consulting engineer, 4 registered professional engineers, 2 certified technologists, and associated support staff. We have through the various backgrounds of the firm’s principals acquired valuable experience in the design of a wide variety of projects. Our involvement has allowed us to work with a variety of clients, Ministries, contractors, and fabricators over the years which has given us a broad base of experience with which to provide unique solutions to various design related problems. Projects have ranged in size and complexity.

More recently, much of our work is with new industrial structures, time-life studies of older runways or failure review of cracks or broken mechanical/structural components. When combined with our practical background in welding engineering, it provides very innovative solutions. We still find providing engineering services in this area of specialty exciting, so our enthusiasm to learn and grow will continue.

Mr. John Rowswell has 21 years of specialized experience in project management, structures and welding. Although the bulk of his work has been in industry, he routinely oversees designs or problems with all type of buildings, structures, or specialized work support systems. Mr. Rowswell is the CWB Welding Engineer for fifteen shops throughout Northern Ontario and Michigan. He has provided specialized welding and emergency repair procedures on a variety of engineering projects. Mr. Rowswell is a strong supporter of his community and Northern Ontario development.

Mr. Byron Moss has over 19 years of professional experience with heavy industrial, commercial, and institutional projects, acting as in various roles including Principal Structural Engineer & A/E Project Manager, Supervising Civil Engineer and Design Engineer. He is responsible for the engineering, technical direction, and control of all aspects of structural engineering and administration. Mr. Moss is experienced in all areas of project implementation from feasibility to final design, tendering, and project management. Mr. Moss also provides forensic engineering services.
