Description
Linamar for the Performing Arts is a long-term program of River Run Centre for elementary school children in Guelph, from grades one through eight. Twice yearly, we give over 14,000 students a chance to experience professional, top quality performances of music, dance and drama. Now in its 13th year, the program is designed to nurture in children a life-long appreciation of the arts. We strive to select and present a wide range of styles within each performing arts discipline so that children are exposed to a diversity of expression rooted in a variety of cultures. To ensure that the program is fully accessible, River Run offers the children free admission to each performance. Expressing our appreciation"¦ On March 9, 2010, in the presence of over 400 grade seven students, Mayor Karen Farbridge thanked Linda Hasenfratz for her support, through Linamar Corporation, and for her long-term commitment to the program, calling it "the envy of other communities." Linda Hasenfratz responded by telling the students how pleased she is that Linamar's support makes it possible to include attending live performances part of their education. She encouraged them to embrace the arts as an integral part of their lives long after they've graduated from this program. In appreciation, Jeremy and Graham of Waverley Drive Public School presented Linda with an engraved glass plaque, and letters and drawings from children of all grade levels, which had been collected over the past few months.
