The World Diamond Council is on the hunt for a new executive director that will serve as the leader of the industry group that works to get rid of conflict diamonds. The duties for the new position will include general day-to-day management, handling the budget, membership drives, liaising with the government, deciding on strategic directions, stakeholders, among others. The position will be the first salaried administrator to date. A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in administrative decisions is required for the position, as well as a minimum of five years working as a senior management. Not mandatory but beneficial qualities include experience with manufacturing, extractives, commodities, retail, specialty goods or product supply chains. Another plus is an understanding of corporate and social responsibilities, voluntary work, implementation of intergovernmental agreements, and the Kimberley Process. “It is a position that encompasses real challenge, and also one in which an individual can bring about positive change, both in the industry and in the lives of our stakeholders,” says WDC President Edward Asscher, reported JCK Online.

Movado Group Inc has appointed Ricardo Quintero as the new president of the company, effective July 14. Quintero has nearly 30 years of experience in brand building, marketing and international expansion. He has leaded high profile global consumer companies such as Clinique by Estée Lauder, where Quintero was a senior vice president and global general manager of market development. He had been with the Estée Lauder Companies since 1999. Previously, Quintero worked in clothing apparel businesses back in his native country of Mexico. He worked for the marketing team of Pepsi Cola Mexicana and Procter & Gamble de México in the earlier stages of his career. Quintero will be directing the brands attached to the company, and all the marketing and international expansion efforts. He will report to Efraim Grinberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Quintero stated to Business Wire that, “I am excited to join Movado Group and believe that there is a significant opportunity to build upon the successful growth of its watch portfolio and achieve even greater expansion in the future across the globe.

Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe has added a new point of sale for the first time in a decade, opening up a shop inside Windsor Jewelers in Charlotte, N.C. The area was going well in sales and led to the Geneva-based brand to choose a 28-year-old family-owned store to host its new store. The new store, reveled in a shop-in-shop concept, will feature both old and new timepieces.
