The Real Estate Council of Alberta is mandated to protect consumers and to provide services that enhance and improve the industry and the business of industry members. As an innovative and agile organization, it works proactively in the areas of education, technology and professional standards.

Estimates the defined value of an identified interest in real estate; Signs a real estate appraisal report that makes an estimate of a defined value of an identified interest in real estate prepared by another person, and accepts responsibility for that report; Provides real estate appraisal consulting services; or, A person who holds him or herself out as providing any of the above services.

Pursuant to Bylaw 2, Council members, when appointing a non-AREA industry member, are to provide notice to industry members who are not AREA members of the times during which nominations will be received. Likewise, Council members, when appointing a non-industry member from nominations received from the public at large, are to provide notice to the public of the appropriate times during which nominations will be received. This notice can be provided through RECA-distributed communication to industry members and/or provincial media outlets, or other communication vehicles.

The Executive Director is supported by the Deputy Executive Director. The Deputy Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of RECA’s regulatory and public interest mandate and is a key liaison with RECA’s external stakeholders. This includes providing information and advisory services that support our industry members, the public, and individuals who wish to enter the industry as well as managing our professional disciplinary processes.
