Quantum intends to build a substantial and sustainable business in wind turbine supply to the burgeoning wind industry.
Quantum Windpower is developing four wind turbines for manufacture in British Columbia for sales into several markets. Our primary market is small-utility (50kW - 500kW) who sell power to the grid on a contracted fixed-price basis. Our secondary market is local power generation for agricultural and industrial applications, including supply to developing-world countries. These markets include National, Provincial, State, municipal, First Nations and individual wind projects in Canada and the USA with worldwide shipping.
The 50kW turbine which is in development will meet the North American net-metering policies and standards and will take advantage of all the advances made in the more prevalent Megawatt (MW) class turbines. Its design uses the same volume manufacture of composites, drive trains, converters and electronics. Importantly, in order to maximize profitability and returns on invested capital, it has a gearless system design that ensures minimal ongoing maintenance costs.
Quantum Wind is developing and prototyping and testing three other wind turbines for market entry besides the 50 KW; a 5 KW horizontal begins testing mid June, 2 Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT) a 1.5 residential designed for the urban housing market and a industrial/agriculture 5 kilowatt turbine is been developed for manufacturing plants and high rise buildings; all Quantum’s turbines will be solar ready.
