Christina Franc What is Moodle? In short, Moodle is an open-source online learning platform. It’s a lot more exciting than it sounds though. The course has text, video, audio. The activities can include quizzes, role playing and discussion forums. But that’s not the best part. Moodle is so flexible it has almost infinite possibilities. For example, Qu’anglo runs an annual awards program and has recently proposed to switch to online entries. Humming and hawing between different ideas (google docs combined with Wufoo combined with PayPal), nothing seemed just right, until an enlightened moment struck. Moodle could accept the entries, collect required contact information and process the payments. Judges could be provided ‘tutor’ access and be able to log on to mark the entries, which would be released after the awards banquet. No paper, no postage, no jumping between online platforms. Last week, two Qu’anglo staff (Hugh Maynard & Christina Franc) attended a three day session where 26 people were asked to develop 10 Moodle courses with LEAD International.
Christina Franc You want to make your small business look professional but you don’t have the thousands of dollars needed to invest in the ‘professional look.’ But nowadays there are so many online resources out there that are either extremely affordable or even free. In fact, almost all have a free option, which although it is limited, is still a great way to make your business look great. What’s even better is that these resources are trying to cater to a large audience, so they aim to be extremely user-friendly and have a wide array of capabilities and compatibilities so they are as versatile as possible to create as many satisfied customers as they can. They are also constantly evolving to meet new needs, so even six months from now they will have tons of new and exciting features! Here are some of my favourite online resources that I use on a daily basis to keep our business, and contract client businesses, organized, efficient and professional.
