PBI is a family owned company that started in 1991 to provide pre-purchase home inspections and building code compliance services to urban and rural municipalities. Over the years, PBI grew to provide additional services, such as government facilities management, National Fire Code inspections, commercial property assessments, and reserve fund condominium studies. PBI is now the largest independent building inspection company in Saskatchewan.

Bill was involved in the building industry for over 35 years before joining PBI in 2007. Bill obtained his Class 1 Building Officials licence in 2007 and has performed thousands of NBC on-site inspections in all stages of construction. Bill obtained his CCBO (Canadian Certified Building Official) certification in 2010 through ACBOA and is a member of SBOA.

PBI pioneered the “Contracted Building Official” concept in 1992 to provide experienced Building Official services to local municipalities who could not justify hiring their own inspectors. Our one and two-unit dwelling rates are based on the size of the home (square footage), rather than on cost of construction, because it is the easiest method for calculating permit fees. We have a sliding fee per $1,000 cost of construction for commercial, industrial, institutional, and larger residential permits. This fee/$1,000 is based on the value of the project.
