Description

The Woodstock Library is one of the finest examples of a Carnegie Library in Ontario but was woefully inadequate in terms of providing modern library services in the new millennium. A major renovation of the existing building together with a large addition has transformed this Library into a state-of-the-art modern library yet maintaining its wonderful historic character. The new addition is designed to be compatible with the historic older structure and the entrance is now totally barrier free. The project was achieved within a modest budget of $75 per sq. ft. overall.

We believe that this satisfaction is a result of the firm's scale and its approach to design. Phillip Carter, the sole proprietor of Phillip H. Carter Architect, has chosen to maintain a small office, allowing him to work personally on every project, from initial client contract through final completion, giving his clients the benefit of his thirty years of experience in construction and architecture.
