The course shows how inversion methods can be used to obtain seismic velocity information and how this information can be used in imaging procedures such as depth migration. We provide a description of prestack depth migration and its application to the imaging of complex foothills geology in Western Canada. There are discussions of anisotropic depth migration methods, velocity analysis, and numerous case histories.
Designed for: The course is applied rather than theoretical and with its practical approach and exercises will benefit geologists, engineers and technical assistants as well as geophysicists who have little experience of the method.
