Jason has 20 years of fishing tackle industry experience in both retail and wholesale and 10 years of guiding experience in both fresh and saltwater. He studied for 2 years at Malaspina College in Nanaimo in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Technician Program as well as 3 years at UCFV. He is President of the Steelhead Society of British Columbia , member of the prestigious Kingfisher Rod & Gun Club, and a former director of the B.C. Federation of Driftfishers . Jason is a regular contributor to B.C. Outdoors Sportfishing Magazine , has written weekly fishing reports for the Vancouver Sun and was co-host of the radio fishing show “BC Wild Country” on the Team 1040.

With the help of Andre Stepanian, one of the most experienced cutthroat anglers, you will be taken to some of the most productive cutthroat waters in the Fraser Valley. Andre has been fishing the Fraser Valley for cutthroat trout for over 20 years. With enthusiasm to spare Andre will instruct you throughout the day on how to cast and retrieve your fly, different stripping techniques, and fly selection.

Your guides, Jason and Derek Jakubec will help remove the mystery behind reading a lake the same way you would read a river. You will learn how to read the contours and structure of a lake bottom or the shoals that can provide explosive and exciting shallow water fishing. Learn how to tie the perfect leader or identify the ideal depth to suspend your chironomid, then be ready for the frantic grab of your fly-rod as your strike indicator darts under the lake surface! Maybe the conditions will call for an accurate cast into the shallows and a slow hand retrieve leading to headshakes of the big one climbing on! Be sure of one thing, there is no shortage of action. Jason and Derek will help you match the hatch and put you in the zone for big trout and big number days. The guides for this trip will be world renowned Jerry French and Trevor Covich. Both Trevor and Jerry grew up in Washington, calling its rivers and fish home. Between the two of them they have over 40 years of guided experience for salmon and steelhead on the fly. Jerry was one of the pioneering anglers who first developed Skagit style casting and fishing. He is also an innovator in the Intruder style of flies, helping to develop them over 10 years ago with good friend Ed Ward in Alaska.
